aboutme

My journey into midwifery began with the births of my own children. My first was a traditional hospital induction, and my second was attended by a nurse-midwife in a hospital setting. Although I longed for a homebirth, Virginia did not yet have legal homebirth midwives in 2004—and only one by the time I welcomed my second baby.

After the birth of my daughter in 2007, I felt a strong calling to serve women and families. I attended my first birth in 2008 for a close friend, and that experience confirmed that midwifery was where I belonged. I began offering volunteer doula support, devouring every book I could, and immersing myself in hands-on learning.

From 2009 to 2010, I had the privilege of working with a local homebirth midwife. I continued to build my skills through years of self-study, volunteer doula work, and formal didactic training through a midwifery program. Once my children were older, I began a full apprenticeship in January 2015.

I earned my CPM credential by passing the NARM exam in January 2018 and received my Virginia midwifery license the following month. In May 2023, I expanded my practice and became licensed in beautiful East Tennessee, where I am now honored to serve growing families.

I maintain ongoing continuing education through workshops, professional trainings, and required CEU credits to ensure my care remains current, evidence-based, and family-centered.

Erin is amazing! I had a few unforseen labor/postpartum complications and Erin was incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging throughout the entire process! I am extremely grateful for her expertise and would definitely recommend her!

I must say, if i could give Erin 10 stars i absolutely would. Being a first time mother at such a young age it’s so many people who’d love to discourage homebirths but with Erin it’s a complete safe space. she is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about her services and goes above and beyond to provide the comfort and reassurance needed to deliver a healthy baby in the heart of your home. Switched to her after being with TPMG for 28 weeks and it was the best decision i’ve ever made, the care was unmatched. Each visit it’s shown that she loves what she does. I’m so grateful i was recommended to her.

Erin is amazing! Very caring, supportive, & respectful. I was 35 weeks when my husband & I decided to switch to a midwife & we were so content when we found her. She showed us that she was trustworthy, gave good advice, & she was always there for us when needed. She made my birth experience a breeze compared to my thoughts; being that this was my first home birth. 6hrs of an amazing experience. We highly recommend!
